I finally got to watch James Gunn’s Superman, and while the film itself was something I’d been looking forward to, the experience left much to be desired. My favorite local cinema only offered the 2D version at 2:30 PM—sorry, but I was at work. The 3D screenings were available at 5, 8, and 11 PM. Honestly, who even watches 3D movies anymore?

I get that theaters are trying to squeeze a few extra euros out of ticket sales (maybe it’s even a directive from Warner Bros to push 3D). It’s all about the money, as always.

Because of this strange schedule, I had to resort to a chain theater—UCI. Let’s just say: their glory days are behind them. The ambiance was uninviting, the screening room and seats sticky, and ticket prices along with popcorn were outrageously overpriced.

This obviously has nothing to do with Superman itself, but it does say a lot about the broader state of cinema culture in Germany—and maybe the world. If people stop going to the movies because of these factors, then films like Superman will flop. And who wants that?

Would you like a shorter version too, or maybe one with a snarkier edge? I can make it fit your ReelCure style if you want it punchier or more poetic. Can you make it more concise?Focus more on the film itself? Can you relate this to trends in the film industry?
